Writing- Discussions and Learning

Today we looked at sentences and thought about our WALT and what we needed to do to make the sentences correct. In groups we discussed the mistakes, looked at punctuation errors and agreed/disagreed whether the sentences made sense.

Nothing like a friendly debate to discuss our learning.

Magpies Visitors

The kids of Clive were pretty lucky to have three of the Magpies rugby team come into school yesterday!

They told us a bit of information about themselves, answered some great questions and even signed lots of autographs! Good luck for this weekends game!

Room 4 have created an imovie with a song from the 80s as half of the class have been learning about the 80s decade. The other half of the class have been learning about the 70s.

Unison Medals

Congratulations to three Clive School Kids for achieving a Unison medal in recognition of Fair Play, Work Ethic, and Discipline! Ka Pai Clive Kids.

Dance 4 Asthma

Well done Clive Kids and Clive Teachers for helping to put together our awesome Dance 4 Asthma 2015 video. We learnt about Asthma and how common it is for New Zealand kids.

Inquiry fun- learning about the 80s

We have been learning about the 80s with our buddies from Room 10. 

We have been finding out information from books, asking experts and from the internet.

Some things that we have been researching are- fashion, furniture, music, Michael Jackson, games and toys, and devices.

Clever Room 4 Kids

Some of our fabulous Room Four kids have been working hard and learning all about the 80's. These clever girls have made an imovie about cartoons and programmes from the 80s.

We shook the photo to speed up the developing.

Measurement Olympics

We had so much fun during Maths today... Even more than usual!
We participated in the the Measurement Olympics.

Shot put (with a cotton ball)

Mini Javelin (with a toothpick)

Long Blast (with a straw and a marble)

Discus (with a sponge)

Long Thump (with 2 counters)

Dance 4 Asthma 2015

Winter Fun!

Early one winter day, the sun was shining brightly in the sky and Fantastic Four decided to play with some bold coloured leaves.
The children had leaf fights, made leaf angels and laughed the day away!

Science Experiment!

Wow what fun we have been having with Mrs O'Leary!

We have been exploring the question "What causes volcano eruptions?"


Here are some responses:
We have found out that air pressure in the ground (Preston)
It's when the ground shakes and explodes (Ruby)
The ground shakes, air pressure under the ground needs somewhere to go so it explodes (Seth.D)
The ground heats up, the water underneath heats up then explodes (Taj)

Mrs O'Leary first put vinegar into a bottle and then put her finger underneath a funnel and quickly put two teaspoons of baking powder into the funnel with her finger still there. Then she quickly tipped the baking powder into the bottle of vinegar and as fast as she could pushed the cork into the bottle and the vinegar and baking powder reacted and made the cork shoot out of the bottle extremely fast and up into the air. Patch the Bunny!

This morning Room 4 had Patch the bunny come in and visit!

We thought of some great adjectives to describe Patch:
Fluffy
Soft
Cuddly
Warm
flighty
Scared
Frightened
These were just some of the amazing words we thought of.
